In partnership with education agencies, I study how education systems and the services they deliver can be strengthened. This work asks both whether programs foster children’s development and how they are put into practice: what supports successful implementation, and how effective programs can be improved and scaled equitably. With New York City Public Schools, this includes evaluations of the city’s universal pre-K professional learning and arts integration programs, and an ongoing study of a strings-based arts program in pre-K through grade 2. I have also partnered with education agencies in Argentina, Peru, and Latvia.
